Physiotherapy, Nepal Pokhara, News

This year Work the World are offering physiotherapy students the chance to join our team in Nepal for highly specialised clinical placements of between three and five weeks.

In Pokhara we’ve got the best partner hospital a physiotherapist could ask for. Specialising in rehabilitation, it’s the only hospital of its kind in Western Nepal.

Village Healthcare Experience - Pokhara, Nepal

If you’re ready for this adventure you’ll get involved in a number of unusual cases that you might have never seen before. These could include stroke rehabilitation, post-operative orthopaedic rehabilitation, degenerative disorders, prolapsed intervertebral discs, soft tissue injury, neuromuscular disorders, post fracture management, spinal cord injury, post-amputee rehabilitation, sports rehabilitation, nerve injuries, autism, cerebral palsy, down's syndrome, and pain management programmes!

Our placements can be tailored to suit anyone’s needs – if you’ve just graduated they’re a perfect way to consolidate what you’ve learned during your degree. If you’re starting a new job, a placement can help you sharpen your skills in a unique setting. These trips are also an excellent way to gain extra experience to make your CV stand out to potential employers (we all know how hard that can be!).

But don’t take it from us. Here are what some of our students have to say:

In four weeks I had the time of my life and many more amazing experiences than I can recount. I went from being a ‘non-travelling’ type to a ‘when can I get my next flight back there’ type!” – Emily Downs, 2015

In paediatrics we saw children with fractures, burns, cerebral palsy, and malnutrition. We were able to give children and mothers advice and show them treatment techniques. We also got the chance to visit a centre for children with cerebral palsy where parents could bring their children to get treatment and interact with others.” – Harriet Campbell, 2015

We’ve created placements for over 6000 students around the world – we know how to deliver clinical experiences like no one else.
