  • You’re able to pay for your trip in instalments, as long as the balance is fully settled 60 days before you’re due to depart. This means you have great flexibility when paying for your trip.
  • You’re likely to find most answers to your basic general finance questions on our FAQ page

  • You could be eligible for a bursary or grant from your university or another funding body
  • Remember that some of your loved ones might not be on social media, or even have an email address, so don’t forget to pick up the phone when it comes to collecting cash towards your trip


  • When looking for a sponsor or donations for your fundraising, use your contacts wisely
  • From local business to social groups, there are plenty of opportunities to make connections with those you already know
  • Have a look at our press page for ideas from people who have successfully secured sponsorship from companies or groups


  • Budgeting: boring, but essential — we’ve created a brief guide to budgeting to help you consider all costs when planning your trip
  • Remember to note down every expenditure you can think of, so you have a better idea of how much you need ahead of your trip
  • You’re welcome to ask our placement advisors at any point for their advice on how much money you might need for things in-country
  • Again, reading our student reviews is a good way to get ideas for extra costs you might incur while abroad, from weekend trips to hospital donations — but be warned: you might just find a few more activities creeping onto your to-do list

Promoting your story

  • Contacting local newspapers, your Student Union magazine or writing a blog is a great way to share.
  • Using social media to share your fundraising or crowdfunding page is a great idea, so why not set up Twitter or Facebook account if you haven’t already
  • You can share photos and updates from your trip with your online friends, and with us, too
  • You can Tweet us, or share your updates using #worktheworld on Instagram and Twitter
